“Horror Flick ‘Obsession’ Surpasses $500M Milestone”

Date:

A recent report from The Wrap reveals that the horror movie “Obsession” has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the $500 million mark in global box office revenue. The film, directed by Curry Barker and released in May, has become the highest-grossing original movie of the post-pandemic era, outperforming Pixar’s “Elemental.”

Despite its modest budget of $750,000, “Obsession” has emerged as the most profitable film ever made for less than $1 million, surpassing even classics like “Enter the Dragon.” The movie’s success has been attributed to its unique storyline revolving around a woman’s violent obsession triggered by a supernatural wish.

Since its release, “Obsession” has seen a steady increase in its box office earnings, with a domestic gross of $263.4 million and an international total of $238.1 million. With an upcoming release in South Korea, the film’s revenue is expected to continue growing.

The commercial triumph of “Obsession” has not only elevated the film’s young cast but has also paved the way for director Curry Barker’s next project. Barker is currently working on a new horror film titled “Anything but Ghosts,” in which he will star alongside co-writer Cooper Tomlinson.

Overall, “Obsession” has not only captivated audiences worldwide but has also set a new standard for independent films in terms of box office success and critical acclaim.
