A’ja Wilson led the Las Vegas Aces to a 93-73 victory over the Toronto Tempo with 27 points and eight rebounds. Jackie Young contributed 23 points and eight assists without any turnovers. Chelsea Gray added 11 points as the Aces played their first game without NaLyssa Smith, who sustained a season-ending left leg injury.
Isabelle Harrison scored 15 points for Toronto, while Laura Juskaite had 14, Kia Nurse 12, and Kiki Rice along with reserve Kiana Williams each scored 10 points.
The Aces (27-13) secured a one-game lead for third place in the WNBA playoff race by defeating Toronto, maintaining their position ahead of Indiana (26-14) who won against Connecticut 111-91.
Las Vegas took the lead early in the game with Young’s 3-pointer breaking an 8-8 tie. The Aces led for the rest of the match, finishing the first quarter 27-17, shooting 50% from the field including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.
In the second quarter, Las Vegas extended their lead to 56-39 at halftime, despite a slight dip in their 3-point shooting percentage. Toronto accumulated 12 personal fouls in the first half, allowing the Aces to capitalize by making 13 of 14 free throws.
Next up, the Tempo will face the Phoenix Mercury, while the Aces will visit the Seattle Storm on Thursday, September 17.
