Canada’s Tyler Mislawchuk secured a bronze medal at the World Triathlon Championship Series competition held in Weihai, China, this weekend. The 32-year-old athlete, hailing from Oak Bluff, Manitoba, completed the race in one hour, 41 minutes, and 25 seconds. Switzerland’s Max Studer claimed the gold medal with a time of 1:41:08, while Spain’s David Campero Del Campo finished ahead of Mislawchuk by seven seconds to take the silver.

Mislawchuk started strong with an 18:39 time for the 1.5-kilometer swim, followed by a 51:53 time for the 38.6-kilometer biking segment. He then finished the 10-kilometer run in 29:35. Expressing his excitement, Mislawchuk stated, “It been seven years with a lot of close calls, but there is nothing like being on the WTCS podium while going up against the best guys in the world.” He further added, “I saw an opportunity today, and three kilometers into the run I went for it. The whole last five kilometers, I kept saying this is what you train for every day. It feels good to do it at the top level.”

Unfortunately, fellow Canadian Liam Donnelly did not complete the race.
