Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have officially agreed to fight each other. The announcement was made by Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalsheikh on social media, with Joshua confirming that he has signed a multi-fight deal. Alalsheikh assured fans in Great Britain that the fight is set to take place. Joshua’s first step will be a warm-up bout against Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25.
Fury recently made his comeback to the ring after a 16-month hiatus, defeating Arslanbek Makhmudov. He disclosed that he had already signed to face Joshua, who chose not to engage in a face-off after Fury’s victory. If Joshua emerges unscathed from his return fight, the much-anticipated clash between him and Fury is expected to happen in November, potentially at Wembley Stadium, and will be broadcast on Netflix.
Joshua had initially planned to return to boxing in March following his win over Jake Paul last Christmas. However, a tragic car accident in Nigeria, which claimed the lives of two close friends, delayed his comeback. During this period, Joshua has been focusing on his training in Ukraine alongside champion Oleksandr Usyk, who believes Joshua will triumph over Fury in their upcoming bout.
After Fury’s recent win, he expressed surprise at Joshua’s absence for a face-off and shared personal struggles he has faced.
