Apple has commenced its latest WWDC Developers Conference at its futuristic headquarters in Cupertino. This annual event serves as the platform for the unveiling of Apple’s upcoming significant software enhancements. The tech giant has confirmed that iOS 27 is set to debut in the Fall, taking over from iOS 26 as Apple’s newest operating system.
Once installed, iOS 27 will introduce enhancements such as improved customization options for the Liquid Glass interface, enhanced file-finding capabilities, and a more intelligent Siri capable of tasks like composing emails, scheduling events, and assisting in booking tickets for upcoming events.
Apple has assured that older iPhone models will experience improved responsiveness, thanks to a feature called CPU Scheduler. Overall, across all devices, speed enhancements are expected. Apple boasts that iPhone and iPad app launches will be up to 30% faster, photo loading speeds after capture will be up to 70% quicker, and AirDrop transfers will be up to 80% faster.
A significant addition that will please parents with children using connected devices is the introduction of a new set of intuitive features designed to facilitate easier management of children’s content access, communication permissions, and app usage.
Apple’s Vice President of Health and Fitness, Sumbul Desai, M.D., stated, “At Apple, our mission has always been to create technology that empowers people and enriches their lives, while helping keep them safe.” The company is introducing major updates to help families establish age-appropriate protections and foster healthy digital habits.
While Apple is yet to announce the complete list of changes, it has confirmed that all iPhones currently running iOS 26 will be eligible for the iOS 27 upgrade. The compatible devices for iOS 27 include a range from iPhone 11 to iPhone SE (3rd generation).
