“Mystery Outbreak Forces Evacuation at Swedish Children’s Hospital”

A unit at a children’s hospital in Sweden had to be evacuated following an unknown outbreak that affected 16 staff members. Surgical staff at Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital in Gothenburg suddenly fell ill with symptoms resembling an allergic reaction.

Reports indicate that the affected staff experienced various symptoms, including runny nose, itchy eyes, severe headaches, itchy scalp, eczema, fever, cough, hoarseness, and nasal congestion. Safety officer Taru Kontio from the Swedish Healthcare Association confirmed that 16 members of the surgical unit were impacted by the outbreak.

Authorities are currently working to contain the situation and identify the cause of the outbreak. The affected area is undergoing cleaning, and operations have been relocated within the hospital. Samples will be taken for testing to determine the source of the illness.

Jonas Nordin, the regional property manager for Västra Götaland, acknowledged the issue but mentioned that the exact cause is still unknown. Efforts are underway to address the situation and ensure the safety of the hospital staff and patients.
