With a user-friendly interface, the Manhattan S4-R enables features such as recording programs, pausing live TV, and accessing over 60,000 hours of on-demand content. While it may not match Sky Q in premium sports and movie offerings, Freesat’s advantage lies in its free-to-watch model.
Priced at £219.99, the 500GB Manhattan S4-R model is now available at retailers like Argos and Amazon, with larger 1TB and 2TB versions on the horizon. The device has gained traction quickly, being labeled as “in demand” and “selling fast” by Argos.
Alex Arbab-Zadeh, COO of Manhattan, highlighted the S4-R’s enhanced recording capabilities and affordability compared to traditional subscription TV services. Another player in the market, the Pleio puck, offers over 50 live channels through internet streaming, available for £99.99 with a gaming controller and access to online games.
Sky has responded to competition by reducing prices by 20% ahead of the World Cup, with the Sky Glass Air TV starting from £4.50 per month. For a more advanced experience, customers can opt for the Sky Glass Gen 2 model, featuring a 4K Quantum Dot display and built-in Dolby Atmos soundbar, starting from £11 per month.
