Former US President Donald Trump asserted that the US would not reconsider its role in NATO, criticizing the organization as a “paper tiger” for not aligning with his and Israel’s views on Iran.
The idea of withdrawal, a key aspect of Trump’s “America First” policy, has gained traction over the years. However, experts point out that this approach overlooks a critical and persistent threat, particularly from a longstanding adversary in the region.
Renowned security analyst Anthony Glees emphasized the need for NATO members to assess the true sources of national security threats, highlighting a particular historical antagonist. He stressed the importance of reevaluating defense strategies and focusing on countering the most pressing danger, which he identified as Russia under Putin’s leadership.
