Two teenage girls under the influence of alcohol have been barred from entering any pubs, bars, or nightclubs across the United Kingdom following an altercation at a hotel reception. Kera McKeown and Larisa Sumovskaja, both 19 years old, caused havoc at the Trouville Hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset, where they were not guests. The incident involved spitting at staff, throwing objects, and damaging property.
During the disturbance, McKeown, identified as the main instigator, brandished a bottle of vodka and her high heels as she aggressively confronted a receptionist. She proceeded to throw various items, including flowers, a computer screen, and a phone. Sumovskaja, on the other hand, picked up a fire extinguisher but refrained from using it, although McKeown later threw it at the hotel staff.
The disruptive behavior led to a court sentencing by District Judge Orla Austin, who deemed their actions as disgraceful. The judge imposed a ban on the girls from all social venues for six months, except for work-related visits. The court heard that the hotel incurred significant reputational and financial damage, estimating costs at approximately £4,000 for cleanup and compensating affected guests.
McKeown and Sumovskaja, residents of Bournemouth, admitted to criminal damage and affray. Their legal representatives cited mental health issues and youth as contributing factors to their behavior. Despite being handed 12-week prison sentences, the judge suspended the terms for a year, along with ordering compensation payments to the hotel and staff.
Sumovskaja received additional requirements for rehabilitation activities and mental health sessions. Judge Austin emphasized the seriousness of the incident and warned the defendants of the consequences of any further misconduct. A third individual involved in the incident received a conditional discharge and costs for a minor role in the disturbance.
