However, Billy Ray Cyrus clarified the situation on social media, revealing that he has always affectionately referred to his daughter as Miley since she was young. Miley, originally named Destiny Hope Cyrus, earned the nickname due to her constant smiles as a baby, a term that has stuck with her ever since.
Billy Ray Cyrus also introduced Miley to Dolly Parton, who became her godmother. Both Cyrus family members have openly mourned the recent passing of Dolly Parton.
