The Canadian-produced hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” has added three new stars to its cast for the upcoming second season. Following its successful debut season of six episodes, the show gained global popularity and helped propel the careers of its lead actors – Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud.
The new additions to the cast, announced recently, include Milla Jovovich, Kevin Zegers, and Paul Gross. Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element,” will join the series. Zegers, who has appeared in shows like “Gossip Girl” and films such as “Transamerica,” will also be part of the cast. Additionally, Paul Gross, recognized for his work in “Due South” and movies like “Men With Brooms” and “Passchendaele,” will bring his talent to the show.
Based on Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” books, the series follows the clandestine relationship between two rival hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Paul Gross is set to portray the hockey league commissioner, Roger Crowell, while Kevin Zegers will take on the role of Coach Wiebe. Milla Jovovich will play Dr. Galina Molchalina, a therapist supporting Rozanov.
The new season will also feature returning actors from Season 1, including Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. A diverse group of Canadian talents has been added to the cast for the upcoming season, with names like Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka joining the ensemble.
Emily Hampshire, in an interview, expressed her excitement for being part of “Heated Rivalry” and praised the show’s creator and director, Jacob Tierney. Despite not being eligible for this year’s Primetime Emmys, the series received critical acclaim and dominated the Canadian Screen Awards, winning multiple accolades.
Filming for the second season of “Heated Rivalry” has commenced, and the show is scheduled to premiere on Crave in Spring 2027.
