Geoff Ogilvy, the captain of the International team for the upcoming Presidents Cup, has selected Corey Conners from Listowel, Ontario, and Nick Taylor from Abbotsford, British Columbia, to join his squad. This marks the first time since 1998 that the International team will have two Japanese players, with Ryo Hisatsune joining Hideki Matsuyama, who secured one of the six automatic spots.
On the U.S. team, Jackson Koivun has been added, making a swift entry just three months after departing Auburn. Koivun, a newcomer to the American team, achieved notable success by winning the 3M Open in only his third professional start and qualifying for the PGA Tour postseason after just five tournaments. He becomes the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2013 to begin the year without a tour card and earn a spot in the Presidents Cup.
Brandt Snedeker, the U.S. captain, also included Jacob Bridgeman in the team roster, recognizing his victory at Riviera this year. Notably, Snedeker opted not to select Ryan Gerard, ranked 22nd globally, despite Gerard’s strong performance at the Tour Championship where he finished third.
The Presidents Cup is scheduled to take place from September 24-27 at Medinah, a venue that has undergone a complete renovation by Geoff Ogilvy’s golf course design company based in Australia.
