An Israeli airstrike in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, a three-year-old child named Tayyem Hamdan and a man identified as Hussam Nusair, as confirmed by health officials. The strike near a bakery in Deir al-Balah also left several others wounded.
According to Gaza medics, the Israeli military targeted and killed a Hamas militant, claiming that Nusair was involved in attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has not yet responded to the military’s allegations.
Despite a U.S.-backed ceasefire last October that reduced major conflict in the area, Israeli military actions have persisted, aiming to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants. Hamas has criticized Israel for breaching the ceasefire and impeding efforts to implement a broader plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the Gaza conflict, which involves Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.
Since the ceasefire began last October, over 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza, as reported by Gazan health officials. In contrast, the Israeli military states that four Israeli soldiers have been killed during the same period.
