“Toronto Raptors to Retire Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 Jersey”

Date:

The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will honor Kyle Lowry by retiring his jersey number, No. 7, after their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10. Lowry will join Vince Carter as the second player in the team’s history to receive this recognition at Scotiabank Arena.

Having retired in July at the age of 40, Lowry signed a symbolic one-day contract with Toronto to conclude his illustrious 20-year NBA career exclusively with the Raptors. Expressing his anticipation for the occasion, Lowry stated that Toronto has always been his home and retiring as a Raptor with his number raised in the arena holds tremendous significance for him.

Reflecting on his time with the team, Lowry emphasized the special bond they created, culminating in their historic NBA championship victory in 2019. During his nine seasons in Toronto, the six-time All-Star made significant contributions, setting franchise records in assists, steals, and three-pointers.

The retirement ceremony will be a poignant moment for Lowry, as he looks forward to sharing it with his former teammates, the organization, the city, the fans, and the entire nation of Canada, along with his family.
