Renowned author and podcaster, Giovanna Fletcher, engages in conversations with parents and kids to address challenges they encounter, strategies they employ, and the valuable online safety resources provided by Tesco Mobile.
Among these resources is a downloadable family pledge that encourages setting guidelines for healthy screen habits and ensuring children’s online safety. Giovanna emphasizes the importance of regularly reviewing rules, noting that while her family currently manages well, adjustments may be needed as kids grow older.
For the Karley family, comprising Anna, Emmanuel, and their three teenagers, phones play a crucial role in staying connected, managing school tasks, and navigating their busy schedules. Seeking a positive approach to discussing screen time, the Karleys participated in the Team Mum v Team Dad Online Safety Challenge, engaging in activities that compared screen-related tasks with offline pursuits.
Upon completing the challenges, the family committed to the Tesco Mobile family pledge, outlining agreements on screen time management, privacy, and sharing. Utilizing Tesco Mobile’s Online Safety Hub, Anna and Emmanuel aim to strike a balance between digital engagement and real-world interactions, starting with implementing a phones-down rule at 9.30pm to prioritize family bonding activities like quizzes.
