US doctor Mehmet Oz recently shared that President Donald Trump believes that diet soda can eliminate cancer cells within the body. Dr. Oz, who serves as the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, disclosed this information while conversing with Donald Trump Jr on his podcast Triggered. According to Dr. Oz, President Trump holds the belief that diet soda is beneficial because it can kill certain elements, leading him to infer that it may also target cancer cells.
Despite the president’s assertions, there is no scientific backing to support the claim that diet soda has the ability to combat cancer. This is not the first instance where President Trump’s dietary preferences have come under scrutiny by associates.
US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr has remarked on the president’s eating habits, describing them as the most “unhinged” among those in the administration. Kennedy highlighted Trump’s fondness for fast-food, particularly mentioning his consumption of McDonald’s, candies, and Diet Coke. The health secretary noted that Trump’s unhealthy food choices are primarily made while traveling, as he trusts large corporations for food safety, opting for healthier options when at Mar-a-Lago or the White House.
Additionally, Republican National Committee chair Joe Gruters revealed that Trump custom-built his own McDonald’s super-burger during the 2024 campaign, combining a Filet-o-Fish, Quarter Pounder, and Big Mac. The excessive intake of processed foods, as seen in Trump’s diet, has been associated with chronic conditions like diabetes and obesity. These health concerns align with the objectives of Trump and Kennedy’s “Make America Healthy Again” campaign, aiming to address such issues in the population.
