Ikea has officially announced the discontinuation of certain items from one of its popular flat-pack furniture lines after nearly 25 years. The Malm bedroom furniture collection will gradually be removed, starting this summer, with a complete phase-out by 2027.
Nevertheless, the renowned Swedish retailer has assured customers that the discontinued items will be replaced with new choices designed to align with modern preferences and requirements.
The Malm range offers various pieces such as chest of drawers, dressing tables, and bed frames, with prices ranging from £15 for a glass top to £426 for a complete bedroom set that includes a bed frame and four chests of drawers.
A representative from Ikea stated, “We understand the sentimental value our products hold in households worldwide, and we are dedicated to adapting to contemporary living styles. As part of this commitment, certain parts of the Malm range will be gradually removed globally to introduce alternatives tailored to current consumer needs.”
Customers have expressed their thoughts on the change, with some sharing positive experiences with the Malm furniture they’ve owned for years. Ikea enthusiasts have also noted the brand’s latest promotion offering Family members a 50% discount on main meals every Wednesday until June 24, known as “Little Saturday” or Lillördag in Swedish, marking the midweek point.
Additionally, Ikea will feature weekly £5 homeware deals in-store every Wednesday, along with monthly discounts on selected products, including soft toys and glassware.
