President Donald Trump has reportedly informed Attorney General Pam Bondi that her tenure is nearing its end, amidst his frustration over the handling of the Epstein Files. Speculation on Bondi’s future has intensified in Washington DC, with sources claiming Trump conveyed to her that her leadership at the US Justice Department is approaching its conclusion.
Bondi has overseen the administration’s management of the Epstein Files, a matter that has greatly irked Trump, as he is mentioned numerous times in the documents. Allegedly, Trump’s confidence in Bondi waned after a congressional committee, with bipartisan support, summoned her to provide sworn testimony in connection to the Epstein investigation.
It is important to note that being listed in the files does not imply culpability or awareness of the crimes associated with the infamous pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. Nevertheless, Trump’s name is mentioned in FBI documents regarding unverified allegations of child sexual misconduct against the President.
The White House has vehemently denied these accusations, labeling them as “completely baseless” and lacking credible evidence. Reportedly, Trump is contemplating replacing Bondi with Lee Zeldin, the current head of the Environmental Protection Agency, a former congressman known for his staunch loyalty to Trump and defense of the President during his previous impeachment proceedings.
Recent reports from The New York Times suggest that Trump has yet to finalize the decision to dismiss Bondi. Notably, Bondi accompanied Trump to the Supreme Court for a hearing on his initiative to eliminate birthright citizenship, a policy granting citizenship to individuals born in the US regardless of their parents’ immigration status.
In a statement to The Times, Trump praised Bondi as a “wonderful person” doing a commendable job. However, sources from the US political news website Semafor have indicated that Trump has notified Bondi that her tenure as Attorney General is drawing to a close.
