Tens of thousands of music enthusiasts gathered at Great Park in Irvine, California, last weekend to enjoy live performances by their favorite artists at a groundbreaking event aimed at supporting women’s health, reproductive rights, and combating gender-based violence.
The Daisy Chain Fields charity festival, organized by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, mirrors the pioneering Lilith Fair from the 1990s with an all-female lineup. The festival featured a mix of established and emerging stars, including queer pop artist Chappell Roan, rapper Doechii, and iconic punk and rock bands like Bikini Kill and Garbage.
Before the festival kicked off on Saturday, Rodrigo revealed that they had raised $10 million for the event’s 10 non-profit partners, such as Planned Parenthood and the National Institute for Reproductive Health. This contribution was doubled by Melinda French Gates, bringing the total funds raised to $20 million.
Rodrigo initially announced the festival in June, emphasizing that all proceeds from the event would go towards charities supporting women and girls. The festival saw special performances, with Rodrigo collaborating with music legends such as Stevie Nicks and Alanis Morissette.
The event, named “Daisy Chain” to symbolize unity and strength in diversity, took place against the backdrop of ongoing challenges to reproductive rights in the U.S., particularly following the repeal of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

The festival’s success resonated with its non-profit partners, who praised the event for fostering care, community, and solidarity. Organizations like FreeFrom and the Center for Reproductive Rights expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, emphasizing the strength and unity of the movement for women’s rights.
