After over a decade of conducting interviews and sharing meals with celebrities in a casual setting, Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube show “Chicken Shop Date,” revealed this week that she is bringing the show to a close. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her audience for joining her on this journey and finding joy in the episodes.
Dimoldenberg initiated the show 12 years ago with interviews in Britain’s underground rap scene and later expanded to chatting with well-known figures like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, amassing nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
“Chicken Shop Date” features Dimoldenberg going on a pseudo-date with a celebrity at a fried chicken shop in London, engaging them with a mix of flirty, humorous, and sometimes awkward questions. The dynamic is more akin to a lively first date conversation rather than a conventional talk show interview, leading to moments like an apparent flirtatious exchange with Andrew Garfield during a 2024 episode.
Among her various interviews, Dimoldenberg has also hosted Canadian stars such as Ryan Reynolds, who made a funny slip-up about his wife’s character on “Gossip Girl,” and Shania Twain, who confessed to never having met Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
Outside the success of her YouTube channel, Dimoldenberg has ventured into other opportunities, such as covering the Oscars red carpet this year where she interviewed another Canadian, Hudson Williams. While her future plans post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, she is reportedly working on a young adult drama series for the BBC.
As she bids farewell to the show, Dimoldenberg hinted at a few more dates to come before concluding this chapter.
