Man killed in police shooting in Maltempec, NB

A fatal shooting incident occurred in Maltempec, a community near Caraquet in northeast New Brunswick, resulting in the death of a man during a confrontation with RCMP officers on Tuesday. Responding to a report of an armed individual in mental distress at a residence on Lavigne Road around 5:40 p.m., officers from Tracadie, Neguac, Caraquet, and Lamèque encountered a non-cooperative man who fired shots at them, refusing to surrender his weapon.
