Alanis Morissette sues ex-manager over blackmail scheme

Date:

Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of attempting to blackmail the singer for drug trafficking allegations unless Morissette agreed to hire her for an extended period and provide substantial compensation. The lawsuit, filed in California, claims that Keren Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation’s Israeli operations, threatened to report Morissette to British authorities unless her demands were met.

The incident occurred during Morissette’s world tour in July 2025, where Urinov was serving as a temporary tour manager. Allegedly, at an airport in the U.K., Urinov was arrested after a bag containing marijuana and a non-opioid animal tranquilizer was flagged by authorities. Urinov admitted the bag was hers, but with a valid medical marijuana license, she was released.

Following the tour, Urinov allegedly sent extortionate letters to Morissette, demanding a long-term contract with lucrative compensation and other benefits, threatening legal action if her demands were not met. Morissette felt compelled to take legal action to expose Urinov’s scheme and hold her accountable for her actions.

The lawsuit also highlights instances where Morissette found Urinov to be an ineffective tour manager, including mishandling finances and withholding information about past criminal activities. Morissette asserts that she was left with no choice but to sue Urinov to prevent further coercion and manipulation.

Morissette is pushing for a jury trial in this matter. Attempts to reach Urinov and Morissette’s representatives for comment have been unsuccessful.
