Check Point’s security team reported a significant increase in new Amazon-related web domains being registered globally from December 2025 to last month, with April experiencing the highest surge of 1,446 new domains created in a single month. This timing is particularly worrisome as attackers can use this window to establish malicious domains, making them appear legitimate and evade detection before Prime Day.
Although the majority of newly created Amazon-themed domains are safe, Check Point found that approximately one in every 11 domains was either categorized as malicious or deemed suspicious. The company emphasized that Prime Day scams are successful because they closely mimic typical shopping behaviors, including familiar branding, convincing checkout pages, delivery alerts, and urgency tactics.
To stay safe during Prime Day shopping, consumers are advised to scrutinize website addresses before entering any information, watch for fake pages that closely resemble Amazon’s site, and avoid clicking on links from emails, texts, or social media. Warning signs of potential scams include unrealistically cheap deals, refund claims, expiring offers, and fake account suspension alerts. Shoppers should verify any suspicious messages directly through Amazon’s official website to avoid falling prey to scammers.
