“Zanzibar Emerges as Affordable New Holiday Hotspot”

Date:

A destination known as the ‘new Magaluf’ is gaining popularity for its affordable £1 beers and sunny weather hitting 30C in May, along with its pristine white sand beaches. While Magaluf has been a favorite among Brits for its beaches and nightlife, a new long-distance spot is catching the attention of more travelers, offering an alternative experience.

Zanzibar, located near Tanzania, is an island renowned for its picturesque beaches and quaint towns. It has been recognized as one of the best-value sunny destinations globally, allowing visitors to bask in the sun even on a tight budget. Recently, the island witnessed a 4.9% increase in tourists, hinting at its rising appeal. Many tourists opt to stay in Stone Town, known for its exquisite historic buildings and unique architecture. Noteworthy attractions include the Old Fort, transformed into a vibrant marketplace, and the Sultan’s Palace Museum showcasing relics from a bygone era.

While not as vibrant as Magaluf, Stone Town offers beach parties and select nightclubs. In the north, Nungwi is gaining popularity among backpackers, featuring events like Full Moon Parties near accommodations. The area boasts soft sandy beaches where turtles swim close to shore, creating a serene ambiance reminiscent of a quieter Ibiza.

Zanzibar’s weather is a major draw for Brits, offering over 12 hours of sunshine daily even in winter, with temperatures reaching 33C from January to April, making it an ideal winter sun destination. The warm climate is perfect for swimming in the turquoise waters, with activities like snorkeling and scuba diving popular among visitors, allowing them to explore vibrant coral reefs and potentially encounter dolphins.

Despite the longer flight duration, affordable travel deals are available for Zanzibar. Options like one-way flights starting from £261 in June on Kenya Airways or routes via Turkish Airlines can make the journey more accessible. Accommodation choices are plentiful, catering to various budgets, with luxury properties offering attractive rates. For example, a week at the 5-star Sofia Sea View or TUI BLUE Bahari Zanzibar can be enjoyed without breaking the bank.
