“Evacuation Orders Lifted in B.C. Wildfires”

Date:

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District in the southern part of British Columbia has removed all evacuation orders tied to the uncontrolled Ainslie Creek wildfire. The district has changed one order to an evacuation alert for 58 properties in the Coldwater and Patchett Road areas. Additionally, 94 properties previously under an evacuation alert have been given the all-clear.

Despite these changes, an evacuation order from the Spuzzum First Nation remains in effect as of Saturday afternoon due to the fire, which covers an area of 677 square kilometers. The regional district reports that about 248 properties are still under evacuation alert as of Saturday afternoon. Property owners are permitted to return but are advised to exercise caution and be mindful of any potential hazards in the vicinity.

In another region, most of the areas under evacuation orders and alerts from the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) have been lifted. The RDOS rescinded its evacuation order on lands east and west of Faulder and Darke Lake, along with three properties on McLennan Road at 10 a.m. PT on Saturday.

The B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS) has announced restrictions on access near the Bald Range wildfire by issuing an Area Restriction Order on Saturday at 12 p.m. PT. According to the order, individuals are not allowed to enter the restricted area without written consent from a designated official under the Wildfire Act. Exceptions to this rule include activities related to wildfire suppression and highway use.
